Our wooden steam 4-4-0 locomotive took part in the annual Labor Day parade in Newtown, September 1, 1997, after having missed out on the Danbury Memorial Day parade due to the (since removed) restrictive gate. Ira Pollack arranged for transport of the float and together with a small crew of loyal volunteers, loaded the loco, marched in the parade, and got it back and unloaded the same day. The result was that our DRM float was awarded First Prize as the Best Float in the parade. Thanks to Ira and to all who helped him.
