The Greater Danbury Irish Festival History
The Greater Danbury Irish Festival
has been in existence since 1995. It was then realized, that if
The Ancient Order Of Hibernians were ever to achieve one of its highest
goals, an Irish Cultural Center in Danbury, that some bold, new ideas
would have to be initiated.
Realizing that the people of the Greater Danbury Area greatly missed
the tradition of a fall fair (The Great Danbury Fair), we set out to
fill the void. The Greater Danbury Irish Festival was born!
Since our first festival was held at Rogers Park in downtown Danbury,
we have made every effort to improve yearly in . We will not rest
on past achievements! We aim to improve each and every year.
We now bring you The Greater Danbury Irish Festival from the beautiful
grounds of the Western Connecticut State University's west-side
campus. There, the Ives' Concert Park sits nestled in a lovely,
wooded clearing, with a band shell sitting over the edge of a country
pond. You have to see it to believe it! No other Irish
festival has a setting as picturesque as The Greater Danbury Irish
Festival!
Come and enjoy pipe bands, step dancing, cultural exhibits, ceili and
set dancing, Irish imports, food and drink, souvenir tents, children
activities, and sporting demonstrations.
