2008 Highlights:

Seminars

For the past several years topics as far-ranging as Software Defined Radio, Airmail, Mechanical TV and NVIS antennas have been presented, discussed and demonstrated at the Western Connecticut Hamfest. This year we expect to present:

  • CW How-To: The many ways to operate it, their pros and their cons
  • Satellite Communications: A how-to presentation and live demonstration
  • D-Star: presentation and possibly even a demo

Big Battery Sale

Not only is the sale big, so too are the batteries. These gel cells are the big boys, typically ranging from 75AH-140AH and they're going for the outrageous price of between $20.00 and $30.00 depending on size. First come, first serve. One or two of these batteries will easily back-up your station for years to come. Also great to spare your car battery in a mobile station. Click on the battery image to see the typical specs of the 75AH battery.

Our source is a server center, that uses these batteries in their UPS. The batteries are changed out regularly and have often never been used. In fact, some of them come still shrink- wrapped! There is no guarantee, but before selling them to you, we test each and every one of them.

Mini Foxhunt

Have some fun with your friends and try to find our fox. The only thing we'll reveal is that the fox is on-site and there's a prize to the winner.

Commercial Vendors

Each year we are successful at attracting several commercial vendors to our HamFest. This year we have secured KJI Electronics, The Parent Shop, Quiksilver Radio, Radio Oasis and Sauder Electronics. Make sure you give them a visit and (at the least) save yourself the shipping costs. Watch this space for further additions.

Raffle

This year we are upping the ante a little and will be raffling a Yaesu FT2800M 2m, 65W mobile rig. And the best part is the price of a raffle ticket stays at $5.00. So now there is absolutely no reason not to play. Everyone can use a rig like this - add to the shack to track 2 repeaters, for your other car or for that go-kit you've been thinking about for a while. This is your chance. Click on the radio image to find out more about the FT2800.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

Our list of offerings goes on and on. In summary:
