Sam, Charlie and Marcia sing Israeli Songs at 2008 Bnai Israel SummerFest

Come join us for an afternoon of Jewish Culture & Food and activities for the entire family.

When: Sunday, August 23, 12:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Where: Congregation B'nai Israel, 193 Clapboard Ridge Road (Route 39) in Danbury; Parking is at St. Anne's Melkite Church just south of the synagogue. A free shuttle to the synagogue is available.

Entertainment:
  • Klezmer, Isareli and Ladino Music with the Not Yet Ready For Primetime Klezmer Band
  • Barbara Kessler (guitar and vocals) will perform Jewish favorites
  • Britt Goodman and Alex Greenberg, former members of Nefesh, play classic Klezmer tunes
  • Marcia Klebanow (keyboard) and friends will sing Hebrew and Jewish Songs
  • Judy-ism, a band of four talented musicians from Long Island, will play Jewish traditional music as well as some non-Jewish music
  • 3 out of 4 of the Crouch Quads from Danbury High School will tell Jewish-themed stories.
  • Yossi Elmani will lead two Israeli Folk Dancing workshops

Family Activities

In addition the craft activities below local personality Cricket the Caring Clown will be strolling the grounds for your enjoyment. Kids always like the clown’s balloon animal creations and Cricket is sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. Magic Marty Steinberg, a local magician who has performed in various community venues, returns to SummerFest. His card tricks and other sleight-of-hand are guaranteed to dazzle you and keep you guessing.
