General Information

The Danbury Railway Museum is a non-profit organization staffed solely by volunteers. The Museum, located in the historic station and rail yard in downtown Danbury, Connecticut, offers railroad history, rail excursion trips, a collection of original and restored rolling stock, and opportunities for hands-on railroad work at "12 inches to the foot" scale.

	The goal of the Danbury Railway Museum, Inc., is to operate a railway museum in Danbury, CT, to educate the public as to the history of railroading and the role of the railroads as part of our local and national heritage, and to engage in any and all activities convenient to said purposes.
In achieving its goals, the DRM takes full advantage of Danbury's unique rail facilities, the old Danbury rail yard and station. DRM's ever growing collection of rolling stock and railroad items includes many one-of-a-kind pieces such as the New Haven RR Mack FCD railbus and a fully operating turntable.

• New Year's Eve 2000 at the DRM First Night activities and Fireworks in the Railyard.
• DRM float wins at Newtown Labor Day Parade
• Arrival of DRM's Alco RS-1 diesel locomotive in the Danbury Rail Yard.
• Photos of the DRM's RS-1 in its new livery (the same paint scheme used by the NH on the RS-1's).
• The DRM's FCD railbus. Lots of historical information about these railbuses built for the New Haven by the Mack truck company, plus some photos of the one when it arrived at the Museum.
• Preparations for Haunted Rail Yard. DRM members carved pumpkins, made tombstones, and generally prepared a ghoulish welcome for Halloween visitors.
• Pictures of our Kids' Day '96 visitors. The DRM visited the Kids' Day '96 educational fair in Stamford; here are pictures of some of those who stopped by our booth.
• Shots of the arrival of military cargo for the Military Museum of Southern New England. Loads like this aren't often seen in Danbury.
