MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF THE MUSEUM: WE NEED YOUR HELP! We receive no funding from the State of Connecticut or any other government agency, and rely on four sources for funding: direct admission and/or event ticket sales, merchandise sales in the Gift Shop, grants, and donations. It is in the latter area where we need your help. Below are three major projects currently underway at the Museum that need additional funding:

GE 44-Tonner Repairs:
Electric Boat in Groton, CT donated 2 44-tonners to us. These locomotives are a perfect fit for Operations at our our Museum, but much repair work must be done before they can be brought into regular service. Until one of these engines can be used, there is no "protect" engine for our SW-8 (Pfizer #1). If #1 is sidelined for any reason, we can not run our Railyard Local trains.

Track Restoration:
We have been forced to take several tracks in the railyard out of service due to the poor condition of the ties. The Railyard Local and any special events are now restricted to operating over only a few tracks. To get our railyard back to a state of "good repair", tie replacement is required on the turntable lead track, as well as tracks 34 and 42.

Railroad Post Office:
Considerable restoration work has already been done on our 1910 ex-PRR Baggage/ RPO car but much more is needed inside the car. Lighting globes, mail slot repairs, drawer replacements, and floor repairs are examples of the work required. The car interior needs to be completely painted. This will be an educational showpiece once it is completed.
