MEC Caboose

2007 Special Run Car
A Northeastern Style Caboose, similar to our MEC #661. Built in 1940 for the Western Maryland, it was acquired by Maine Central in the 1960's, and restored by DRM in 2003. Reporting mark: DRMX 2007. This caboose is often used in our Railyard Local. 300 cars produced. From Athearn. Actual car is much better looking than shown. $19.75. Member price, $14.80.

Conrail Reefer with GPS

2008 Special Run Car
This unit is a steel-sheathed, mechanical refrigerator car with a cushioned underframe which, like others of its kind, most likely hauled fresh produce or meat. The car was fitted with a GPS transponder for testing by Conrail, the first-ever use of GPS on a freight car. The transponder remains attached to the car. $25.00. Member price, $22.50.

The Old Put - New York Central Putnam Division, by Joe Schiavone with Brian Vangor. Hardcover, 8.5x11", 104 pages, photos, maps. Includes 2 DVD's; one a walk along the Putnam Division as it exists today, and the other footage from actual runs along the line. Included is an overview of the division and stories about the line in the 1940s & 50s, with a look at the Lake Mahopac Branch, the Mahopac Falls Branch and service to Tarrytown and Yonkers. Many photos. A must for anyone familiar with the line. The book is out of print.
