After School Programs 2007-2008

Kids Literacy Program:  The Kids Literacy Program is funded by the Pitney Bowes Literacy and Education Fund.  It provides funding for an after school literacy program in three (3) elementary schools in the City of Danbury.  These schools are South Street, Stadley Rough, and Roberts Avenue for the school year 2007 - 2008.  This is the second consecutive year this program has been in operation.  The goal of the program is to provide extra assistance for students in reading and reading comprehension during the after school hours.  The program operates after school twice a week for one hour from 3:30 - 4:30 P.M.
 
Girls As Leaders (GALs) Club:  The Girls As Leaders Club is an after school leadership program for girls enrolled at Rogers Park Middle School in the City of Danbury.  The program is funded by Fairfield County Community Foundation Fund for Women and Girls, Connecticut Youth Services Association, and Pepsi Co Foundation.  This is the first year the program will operate (school year 2007 - 2008).  The club meets after school twice a week from 2:30 - 4:30 P.M.  The goal of the program is to equip its participants with the leadership skills necessary to become leaders in their community, communicate better with family, friends, and school staff, and gain the confidence to succeed academically and in all areas of their lives.
