There are 32,000 Rotary clubs scattered around the globe. A Rotarian can walk into any Rotary Club anywhere and find a warm welcome and some basic patterns that define the practices of Rotary, but each club has its own unique personality and focus. The Rotary Club of Danbury – Sunrise fits that description. We follow the practices of Rotary, yet in our own way, we have a “one-of-a kind” personality. We thrive on fellowship, lots of laughter, egging each other mercilessly and “hands on” service. We like being together and we like the things that we do to make a difference…in Danbury and in the larger global community. A recent member survey confirms that we have not wavered from our original purpose when the club received its charter in June of 1997….to make Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self” a “hands-on” reality. 2006-07 Rotary International President William B. Boyd is encouraging Rotarians to "Lead the Way" in the 2006-07 Rotary year, calling his choice for the RI theme "an affirmation of my belief in the power of Rotarians to change the world, one positive act at a time." Danbury Sunrise will help change our world, with one positive act at a time, including support for global clean water, working to eradicate polio through the "Purple Pinkie Project", and giving Dictionaries to all Danbury 3rd grade students as well as a host of other worthy endeavors. The club meets on Friday mornings from 7:30 - 8:30 AM at the Rudy's Gourmet Restaurant, 68 Stony Hill Road, Bethel in Mountain Laurel Plaza. We welcome visiting Rotarians and community guests to join us, to enjoy the fellowship and learn more about the club.
