Adult Education
the 9:00A.M. class will continue to meet through Memorial Day Sunday, and then
break for the summer. Elder Addie Sandler will lead the class, as outlined
below:
Adult Sunday School
"Hunger Awareness and our Response as Christians"
A voice
from Pakistan..."We poor people are invisible to others---just as blind people
cannot see, they cannot see us."
A voice
from Latvia..."Poverty is humiliation, the sense of being dependent on them, and
of being forced to accept rudeness, insults, and indifference when we seek
help."
I will be
leading an adult Sunday School program on "Hunger No More" on Sunday mornings
before worship on May 6th, May 13th, and
May 27th. The class is open to everyone,
even our older youth. The purpose of the class is to initiate a discussion about
hunger in the United States and world-wide, and begin to see the human face of
hunger in new ways. I would like to begin a social justice sub-committee to the
mission committee and I am hoping that the class will be the catalyst to make
that happen. If you are interested in being involved in a social justice
committee, but cannot attend the Sunday School class please let me know.

The
Tuesday
Lectionary Bible Study continues to meet
weekly at 7:30.
They even meet in the summer!
All welcome.

Christian Education
THIRD GRADERS
will receive bibles in our worship service on Sunday, May 6. Please call the
office, 775-2624, to confirm.
The Sunday school continues to meet during church
with Grades 1st through 5th leaving the worship service
after the Children’s Sermon. Grades 6th through 12th
leave the worship service to attend their classes after the sermon.
The
Pre-school/Kindergarten class is learning
about Jesus as a young boy with stories and crafts provided by Kim Downs. Kim
is continuing to provide the stories and crafts as the children learn more about
Jesus during the Spring Quarter.
The children in
Grades 1st through 5th
are learning the books of the New Testament this month. They are also
memorizing a Bible verse that coincides with each week’s lesson. Margaret Daz is
leading the classes and Ann Thomas is assisting. On March 18th Rev.
Beams led a class about Communion for the children and their parents. Thos
parents who wish may allow their children to participate in the Communion at the
Seder Dinner on Maundy Thursday.
The Youth,
Grades 6th through 12th
have been involved in discussions on “Body-Image Influences” led by Nancy Munn.
The discussion included some of the factors that can influence one’s body image
such as weight, comments from peers and parents, comparison to celebrities,
specific features (nose, eyes, and hair), body adornments or decorations
(piercing and tattoos), etc. Martine Warner and Bill Thomas assisted with the
classes.
Thank you for your support of our children.
Ann Thomas, Chair
